Terms

Last changed October 31, 2026.

These terms apply to anyone who uses Family Loan Agreement (“we” are the people who run it). By using the site you agree to them; if you don’t, please don’t use it.

What the site is

Family Loan Agreement is self-help software. It turns your answers into a written loan agreement and a payment table. No one reviews your answers or your agreement.

Not legal, tax or financial advice

Family Loan Agreement is not a law firm and doesn’t give legal, tax or financial advice, and using it doesn’t create an attorney-client relationship. This tool and the agreements it makes are not a substitute for the advice of an attorney or tax professional. What you type isn’t protected by attorney-client privilege.

The guides on this site explain general rules. They don’t say what applies to your loan, and they may not cover your state’s rules.

What you are responsible for

You choose every term in your agreement. Before you sign it, you are responsible for checking that it suits your situation and follows the laws that apply to your loan, including any limit on interest rates or late fees, and for any tax return the loan calls for.

The payment table is worked out from the numbers you choose. Check it, and the IRS rate it uses, before you sign.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older to use this tool, and everyone who signs an agreement made with it should be an adult. Family Loan Agreement isn’t offered in North Carolina or Missouri, or to people who live there.

What it costs

Making and reading your agreement costs nothing. When downloads open, the PDF and Word file will cost $29 once, with no subscription.

Using the site

Please don’t use the site to break the law, send automated requests that overload it, or get around the download price.

No promises about results

The site, its guides and the agreements it makes are provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy. We don’t promise that an agreement will be enforceable, that it will be treated as a loan for tax purposes, or that the site is free of errors.

Limits on what we owe

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss that comes from a loan, its repayment or its tax treatment. Our total liability to you for anything to do with this site is limited to what you paid us, or $50 if you paid nothing. This doesn’t limit any liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as for fraud.

If you live in New Jersey, the two sections above apply to you only as far as New Jersey law allows.

Which laws apply to these terms

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to rules about conflicts of law. That doesn’t change which state’s laws apply to your loan agreement: that is the state you choose in it.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and a change applies from that date. A change won’t alter the terms of a download you have already bought.
